Service Description

Join us as our courageous communicators meet to participate in play-based, sensory activities that that support building/expanding communication skills of all styles, types and abilities to support self-advocacy and social interaction. Hosted at The Sensory Play Place, 1395 Atwood Ave Unit 109 Johnston, RI 02919 (401-203-3157) Enrollment fee includes: *Full 6 week term (May 9, 16, 23, 30, June 6, 13, 2026) including one 45-minute structured, play‑based communication group session per week led by a licensed & certified Speech‑Language Pathologist. *Group participants: Children ages 4 - 7 years & their caregiver/s. While this group is open to all communicating friends, this group further supports neurodivergent & emergent communicating friends of all styles, types, levels and abilities (verbal, signs, AAC etc) within the 4-7 year age range. *Group focus: All aspects of communication via sounds, devices, simple signs, words, sentences. Total communication approach for social engagement, imitation, building/expanding expressive/receptive language & vocabulary *Activities: Sensory input/movement, play-based activities, hands on activities, routines/directions *Caregiver support: Information, ideas, & strategies provided weekly *Small group size allowing for personalized attention *Caregiver coaching during group sessions and resources to reinforce/carryover skills at home Bonus: One make-up session offered at end of term for participants who missed a session
